In the heart of Rajasthan’s border district, a quiet revolution of compassion is taking place. Under the leadership of Rajinder Allsikha, Kiran verma, Prince Kumar, the Bhagat Singh Rescue Team in Sriganganagar has emerged as a symbol of humanity, serving those who are often forgotten by society. From performing last rites of unclaimed bodies to providing shelter for the elderly, education for underprivileged children, rescuing animals, and campaigning against drug abuse, the organization has created a lasting impact on the community.
A Journey Born from a Tragic Incident
The inspiration for this mission traces back to Bikaner, where Rajinder allsikha witnessed a heart-wrenching incident. A poor family from Bihar had come for cancer treatment. When the patient passed away, his widow found herself helpless, unable to transport the body back home. Deeply moved by her plight, Olsikha personally arranged for the funeral. That moment proved to be a turning point in her life.
“From that day onwards,” Allsikha recalls, “I resolved that no individual regardless of religion, caste, or circumstances should leave this world without the dignity they deserve.”
Over 100 Unclaimed Bodies Given Dignified Farewell
Since then, the Bhagat Singh Rescue Team has performed the last rites of more than 100 unclaimed bodies across India. The process is meticulous: the team coordinates with local police and hospitals to establish identity and ensures that the funeral follows the deceased’s faith.
Whether it is a Hindu cremation, a Muslim burial aligned with traditions linked to Mecca, Sikh prayers, or Christian rites, the organization respects every faith with complete sincerity.
From Suspicion to Collaboration
The early days were not easy. The team faced skepticism from locals and hurdles in coordinating with hospitals and the police. But persistence and sincerity turned the tide. Today, both the administration and police actively support their efforts.
“Initially, people questioned why we did this,” Allsikha shares. “Now, whenever there is an unclaimed body, the police themselves call us.”
More than Rituals, a Testament of Compassion
Each cremation or burial conducted by the team is not just a ritual but a profound message that every life, no matter how marginalized, deserves respect in death. For Rajinder Allsikha, the mission is not merely social service but a spiritual commitment, a reminder that compassion is the highest duty of humanity.
Shelter for the Elderly and Education for the Young
Beyond last rites, the organization also runs an old-age home in Sriganganagar. It provides shelter to senior citizens who lack financial support or family care. Admission requires applications through the District Social Welfare Officer or the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office. Residents must be over 60 years of age and free from critical health conditions. The home provides food, medical facilities, and a safe environment.
The team also supports underprivileged children by offering free education, housing, food, healthcare, and physical training. The curriculum combines traditional studies such as Vedic learning with modern subjects like environmental awareness. The focus is particularly on uplifting children from economically weaker families and Scheduled Tribes (ST) backgrounds.
Protecting the Voiceless: Animal Rescue
The Bhagat Singh Rescue Team extends its mission of compassion to animals as well. It actively rescues abandoned and injured animals, offering them shelter, medical care, and rehabilitation. Adoption drives are organized, and the group also works against animal cruelty and trafficking, ensuring that voiceless beings receive the care and dignity they deserve.
Battling Drug Abuse through Awareness
The fight against drug abuse forms another critical pillar of the organization’s work. Collaborating with the Narcotics Control Bureau, health authorities, and the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, the NGO organizes rallies, workshops, cultural programs, and seminars to spread awareness about the dangers of drug addiction. Every year on June 26, the team also organizes an international service run as part of its anti-drug campaign.
A Personal Mission with Family Support
Born on January 1, 1998, in 9FA Majhiwala, Sriganganagar, Rajinder Allsikha is the driving force behind this initiative. He is the son of the late Hari Ram Allsikha and late Jassi Bai. Her family has been an unwavering pillar of support in this journey, with her sister Bhawna Allsikha, brother Puran Allsikha, and relatives including Anju Allsikha actively contributing. Even her daughters, Manu Allsikha and Jannat Allsikha, are engaged with the mission.
Humanity at the Core
At a time when society often moves too fast to notice the forgotten, the Bhagat Singh Rescue Team stands as a reminder of humanity’s fundamental values. Be it dignified funerals for the abandoned, shelter for the elderly, education for the underprivileged, care for animals, or awareness against substance abuse, the organization’s work speaks volumes about the power of empathy.
Rajinder Allsikha believes that meaningful social change does not come only from policies but from personal responsibility. “Compassion is the highest religion,” he says. “If each of us contributes in small ways, together we can create a better society.”
A Beacon of Hope Through selfless service, the Bhagat Singh Rescue Team has become a beacon of hope in Sriganganagar and beyond. It demonstrates that dignity, care, and compassion are not privileges but rights that every individual and every living being deserves. By touching the lives of the forgotten, the organization is leaving behind not just an imprint but a legacy of humanity.
