Giant green arrows wrapped in “Don’t Beat Around the Bush” tape are popping up across Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. Instagram buzz has everyone guessing what’s really going on.
Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru woke up this week to a strange new riddle sprouting in their public spaces: a giant, bright-green cut shape of a download arrow. The plant stands roped off with yellow tape, reading Don’t Beat Around the Bush.
But this is no decorative garden piece, more like a crime scene, wrapped in yellow tape that reads “Don’t Beat Around the Bush.”
Its white planter carries a text, “Down There Done Right.” Beside it, a QR code stands that invites anyone curious enough to scan for clues and guess what it can be.
The installations first appeared on college campuses and high-traffic streets, and within hours crowds were seen taking pictures of it. Students gathered in clusters, taking selfies with the arrow while others aimed their phone cameras at the QR. Some scanned in hope of an instant reveal, others simply documented the sight and moved on, still puzzled.
In Mumbai, people have spotted the bushy down-arrow at MithiBai, Marine Drive, Churchgate Railway Station, Somaiya College, Gateway of India, and even outside Andheri West. Delhi’s sights stretch from Connaught Place and India Gate to Khan Market, DLF Cyberhub, and Cybercity, with a few popping up around North Campus. And Bengaluru has joined in with arrows planted at MG Road, Indiranagar 12th Main, Koramangala Forum Mall, Brigade Road and even on the lawns of Christ College. Surprisingly, all installation at all locations looks exactly the same?
Each location has quickly turned into a mini tourist stop. Office-goers slow down, students line up for selfies, and someone inevitably pulls out a phone to scan the mysterious QR code.
Instagram has gone crazy covering this installation, feeds already flooded with posts and stories, and everyone is busy guessing what’s really going on. The comment sections are a riot of guesses, everything from “razor promo” and “secret gig invite” to “eco clothing drop”.

On Instagram, the handle @downtheredoneright, which surfaced around the same time, began reposting photos from people who spotted the arrow. The comment threads are a free-for-all of guesses: “It has to be a new face wash product,” wrote one user. Another said, “It’s a box of shoes.” Others threw out theories ranging from an energy drink launch to an art installation.
For now, the cities are left with questions. Who planted these green arrows? What does the phrase mean? Until someone steps forward and reveals the truth.
